On the court Dot Peters was a skilful and hard hitting player, winning Premiership flags in 1975, 1978 and 1983. She was extremely well liked and known for the cakes she made to celebrate events. Her main off-court work was in the early ‘70’s with preparations for the centenary of the Healesville Tennis Club in 1989. Through her efforts, the club received letters from the Prime Minister, Bob Hawke; Premier of Victoria, John Cain; a write up in the Weekly Times and an excellent attendance from many past and contemporary members. In 1983 Dot became Junior Convenor contributing further to her prior contributions in fostering a social feeling amongst tennis players. In 2011 as part of the launch of the HTC book ‘Advantage Healesville’, Dot performed a ‘Welcome to Country’ especially for the HTC courts, “wishing everyone who ever enters the club gates will enjoy themselves as much as I have”. She will be missed.
